2024 Scholarship Recipient Reflects
On Scholarship Impact

Kelsey Kusi, #4 and Breanna Wilson, #6 shared photos from their Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. new member presentation.

Kelsey Kusi, a 2024 recipient of the Cynthia D. Brown Education Scholarship, recently updated 20/20 Sisters of Vision members on her recent accomplishments, which she said were made possible by the scholarship and 20/20 members. She is attending North Carolina State University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s in Molecular Biology with a minor in Biotechnology. This summer, she will go to Nagoya University in Japan for two months to contribute to ongoing research in Epigenomics. She has also established her own club at NC State, called BioBridge, which aims to connect students with careers in biotech and life sciences. The club promotes inclusion, mentorship, and professional growth through workshops, speakers, and resources, helping students explore careers and bridge academics with real-world opportunities.

Additionally, she joined Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. with another recipient of the Cynthia D. Brown scholarship, Breanna Wilson. Kelsey stated that “thanks to the support from 20/20, she and Breanna were able to meet at this wonderful school and build a strong connection to one another.”

She further said, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and to keep doing what you are doing because it makes a difference.  Because of your organization, we were given the platform to elevate ourselves and now we can return that opportunity to others.”
